PEORIA WINS, BUT STRUGGLES
Week four proved to be a focal point for the Peoria Panthers and the Westview Knights. Both teams had been ranked in the Top 5 during the opening weeks of the season, but by the fourth game of the season, Peoria had dropped from the rankings and needed a win against Westview to re-establish its footing.

Despite some uneven play that included three turnovers, the Panthers pulled out the 27-24 win on a late fourth-quarter 26-yard pass play from Vinnie Spano to T.J. Simpson.

Both teams sported 2-1 records going into play at Peoria. Westview dropped a 2-point decision against Marcos de Niza and Peoria lost a close one to North Canyon; both ranked opponents at the time. Peoria’s Ezra Sanchez scored the Panther’s first touchdown in the first quarter and Westview answered with touchdown runs by Nate Jones and Fernando Trevino; Adam Garcia added a field goal.
